About me: I’m 44 years old. I live with my best friend and the “love of my life” Tara. I have two daughters. Nicole is 27 and Casey is 19. I also have a grandson. His name is Chase, he is 4 and he is awesome! I spend as much time as I can with him! I am a full time firefighter/EMT with the Fairhaven Fire Department. I’ve been there since 1987. We work 24 hour shifts: 24 hours on, 24 off, 24 on and then 5 days off. It’s a great schedule. It allows me to have more weekends available to DJ parties! My hobbies include sports, music, family and friends. I am a huge hockey fan (Go Bruins!). I also like baseball and football. I still regularly play hockey and softball, despite my “advanced age”. My DJ Background: I started in the DJ biz when I was 12 or so. My father was Sam Freitas. He owned a DJ business, called Sam’s Giant Jukebox. He was very successful with his business. I used to go with him to set up the equipment, “the roadie”. On Sunday mornings, he had an Oldies But Goodies radio show on WNBH. I used to answer phones, take requests and run out to his truck to pick out the songs that people asked for. He had close to 10,000 records. Even today, I see people who reminisce about his love of the music from that ‘50’s and 60’s era. Eventually I started DJing parties on my own. I performed at my “first official party” was when I was 15. My mother had to drive me to that one. My Business Philosophy: The fact that I have been around for 28 years speaks volumes. I must be doing something right! It all comes down to this: I treat people the way I would expect to be treated. If I tell you that I’ll be there, I will. I have never and will never try to pull anything on anyone because that’s just not how I am. I keep my prices reasonable for a reason: The majority of my business comes from word of mouth. My friends and family members think enough of me to tell their friends and family about me. If I charge a ridiculous fee or blow off customers, take better offers or stuff like that, it makes the people who refer me look bad. I appreciate the fact that those who think highly of me have kept me in business this long! I would never do anything to jeopardize the faith that is placed on me. What do I listen to?: This question always comes up. No, I don’t listen to the same stuff I play at every single party! I was brought up on 50’s and 60’s music, so if it’s on, I’ll listen. I will listen to just about anything. I’m not a fan of country music (sorry, all you cowboys and cowgirls). I prefer classic and modern rock, some hip hop, R&B, classic funk. On my IPod: Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Tool, Van Halen. I’ve seen Pearl Jam 5 times. But, the best live show I have ever seen was….George Clinton/Parliament! Bow wow wow yippee yo yippy yay. Favorites During hockey season, I rarely miss a Bruins game, whether in person or watching on the high def TV. Red Sox, Pats, TV shows: Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Family Guy. Lately, Sons of Anarchy has caught my eye. I never missed an episode of NYPD Blues. Movies: I have a collection of over 500 movies. I’ll always watch Goodfellas and Shawshank Redemption if it comes on!
